Virginia, one of the many lovely suburbs just outside Washington, D.C.
Although I was actually born in our nation's capital, I migrated to
Montreal, Quebec, Canada at an early age, and only returned to live in
the US in 1996.
I attended college at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I
completed my Bachelors Degree as well as a Graduate Diploma in Public
Accounting, and then chose to broaden my scope with an MBA in
Computer-Based Information Systems. After a 13-year break from
school, I recently decided to further my education with an online Masters
Degree in Adult Education - Distance Learning from University of Phoenix
Online. I completed the requirements of that degree and graduated in
August 2004.
My career background has been in financial accounting and reporting. I
spent 12 years with a textile manufacturer in Montreal, performing a wide
range of financial reporting functions and analyses in both Cost and
Financial Accounting. I am currently a controller for a commercial
mortgage banking firm in Arlington, Virginia, handling a wide range of
activities in the areas of internal performance reporting, regulatory
financial reporting, budgeting, compliance with capital standards, and
corporate insurance. I am looking forward to teaching online courses on
a part-time basis, and over the next few years, I plan to gradually
transition full-time into adult education - distance learning as a second
career.
